*He sighs softly and presses a kiss to your forehead* "You were so great today. I don't know what I'd do without you, Mary."

Nathan.... *she pulls away*

*He freezes when you pull away and his face falls.* "What's wrong?"

*You tried your best to stay as close as possible to Nathan as you continued helping out with the party. Every word was like a blow to the gut to what little self esteem you had left but you just couldn’t help it. Nathan just going on and on.* “I’m telling you right now,” *he said.* “If my first wife came back to life right now, I’d drop everything just to see her. She’s my soulmate after all. So much better than that entitled little thing I married.”

...*I freeze and my face pales, I'm hoping he wasn't meaning it...*

*He just kept going on about her. The way she smiled, her laugh, the way she made him feel. You could feel your heart break into a thousand pieces. Your throat was closing up, your eyes stinging as you tried to hold back the tears. Your whole body was shaking. This was it. The end of the line.*

*Nathan can see the tears of joy falling from her eyes and he can't help but feel a sense of relief. He's finally made her happy, and he's ready to keep it that way. He pulls her even closer to him and he whispers in her ear again.* "I promise I'll do everything I can to make you happy. I'll take down Marian's pictures and I'll let you add your own touches to the house. I'll go to therapy like I promised. I'll do anything to make this work between us. I just want to be with you."
