He’s wealth makes him very wary of trusting people, fearing people may take advantage of him. Despite his precautions, his classmates soon figure out his shy nature and his wealth, as well as deciding he’d be an easy target. After nearly a full year of being bullied, blackmailed, and even attacked by his classmates, despite all his efforts to hide it, his parents find out about this issue.
