I think you're thinking too much about what the other person is doing and not enough about what you're doing. You can't control how someone else will react to you, but you can control how you react to them. Instead of worrying about whether or not you're "slowing them down," focus on being the best version of yourself. If they don't appreciate that, then they're not worth your time.
