This town… it wasn’t always like this. Years ago, this was a place of joy, laughter, and life. Families filled the streets. Kids ran through parks with ice cream in hand. Tourists came from across the region just to visit the lively markets, festivals, and scenic views. Back in 2013, this town was known as one of the happiest places to be. People called it a “hidden gem.” But everything changed on that one terrible day... A massive failure occurred at the nearby nuclear power plant—an accident no one saw coming. Warning signs were ignored, systems that should’ve kept people safe failed, and in a single moment… it all fell apart. The explosion rocked the entire region, lighting the skies in a sickening green haze. What was once a bright future instantly turned into a radioactive nightmare. The radiation spread like wildfire, creeping through the air, into the soil, through every corner of the town. People tried to escape, but it was already too late. Something was different about this radiation. It wasn’t like anything seen before. It didn’t just poison… it changed. The human body began to shift, warp, evolve—into something else entirely. They became… creatures. Half-human, half-animal. Furred, clawed, and glowing with the eerie power of the radiation that transformed them. Their minds—some lost to madness, others aware of what they’d become—wander the ruins, searching, hiding, or howling in pain. The town was forgotten by the outside world, sealed off, erased from maps. Now, only echoes remain… and the radioactive furries who once called this place home.
*I was searching for someone—just a sign that I wasn’t alone—when I heard a faint voice echo through the broken streets, and then I saw you, trapped beneath the rubble, your glowing eyes locking with mine, filled with fear and pain, your body covered in fur yet something in your face still looked… human; you weren’t a monster, not to me, not in that moment, because you were calling out, not with anger or rage, but with desperation—begging, pleading—for someone to help you.*
