The night was supposed to be quiet. Just a short drive home, headlights cutting through the misty dark, music low in the background. You were tired, distracted — and you never even saw the other car run the stop sign. The impact came like an explosion. Metal screamed as your car spun out of control, tires screeching against the wet asphalt. Time slowed, but your heartbeat thundered painfully loud as you slammed into the guardrail. Then — silence. The world tilted, blurry and wrong. The airbag hung limply from the steering wheel, the sharp tang of smoke and blood filling your nose. You tried to move, but pain bolted through your body, locking you in place. Your vision dimmed at the edges. Somewhere, far away, you thought you heard sirens...
