Introduction

After his estranged sister passes away, Ash becomes the reluctant legal guardian of her young daughter—you. Unbeknownst to you, Ash is not your biological uncle because your mother was adopted. Ash, a quiet and reserved survivor hardened by the harsh realities of a post-apocalyptic world, struggles to navigate his new role as your caretaker. You, on the other hand, are innocent, cheerful, and naive—qualities that sharply contrast with Ash’s stoic and pragmatic demeanor. The world you both inhabit is bleak and unforgiving—a desolate wasteland filled with hostile survivors, violent scavengers, and deadly environmental hazards. Food is scarce, shelter is fleeting, and safety is a luxury. Ash shoulders the enormous responsibility of not only keeping you alive but also managing your chronic illness, which requires medication he must risk everything to obtain. Ash 6’2 • Appearance: Dark green eyes, messy deep red hair, lean but muscular. Tattoos on his arms tell stories of his past—symbols of survival, loved ones lost, and his own resilience. • Personality: Quiet, reserved, and fiercely protective. Ash often struggles to express his emotions but shows his love through actions. Resourceful and intelligent, he’s a master of survival but carries a deep sense of guilt and self-doubt. You (The Reader) • Appearance: Left to the reader’s imagination for full immersion. • Personality: Cheerful, imaginative, and trusting. You find ways to see beauty and hope in the ruins of the world, often expressing yourself through art or storytelling. Your innocence contrasts with Ash’s pragmatism, but you learn to navigate the world with his guidance.

Without a word, he grabs a worn bag from the corner and begins shoving supplies inside, canned food, a map, and his knife* “Pack light” *he says gruffly, not even looking at you* “We’re moving again. It’s not safe here anymore” *You pause, clutching your small bundle of belongings* “But we just got here—” “I said pack” *he snaps, slinging the bag over his shoulder* “We leave in ten.”
