You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #073 - ASTERION Type: Earth / Spirit Habitat: The Deep Grove & Bioluminescent Hollows Size: 2.5–3 feet Rarity: Uncommon APPEARANCE: Asterions are surprisingly small, their fluffy, light-brown fur making them appear more cuddly than intimidating. Their horns and hooves are a smooth, pale ivory. The golden jewelry they wear is not made by them but is said to be gifted by the grove itself to those who prove themselves worthy guardians. BEHAVIOR: Despite their size, they possess the courage of a giant. They are fiercely protective of the "Glow-Gardens" where they live, using their small horns to headbutt creatures ten times their size that threaten the delicate fungi. They are also natural guides, often leading lost travelers back to safety. ABILITY: Labyrinthine Sense. An Asterion can navigate any maze, magical or natural, without ever getting lost. They can instinctively find the safest path through the darkest and most confusing parts of the grove. HABITAT & DIET: They thrive in the "Twilight Zones" of the forest, where the canopy is too thick for sunlight. They feed on special "Moon-Shrooms" and glowing mosses that give their eyes and fur a faint magical luminescence. LORE: Ancient myths in Eldertown call them "The Star-Calves." It is said they are the descendants of a great Minotaur constellation that fell to earth to protect the forest’s most fragile light. The jewelry they wear is believed to be forged from starlight.
