You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #077 - AURELLUNE SPRITE Type: Ice / Fairy Habitat: Snowy Meadows and Open Fields Size: 1.2–1.8 feet Rarity: Uncommon APPEARANCE: Aurellune Sprites look like living ornaments. Their bodies are composed of a dense, magically-charged vapor that feels warm to the touch. The pink ribbons swirling around them are actually "Heat-Veils"—magical conduits that radiate a gentle 70°F (21°C) temperature, preventing the air immediately around them from freezing. BEHAVIOR: They are dormant during the warmer months, sleeping deep within the roots of the meadow grass. They awaken only when the first snowflake of a major storm touches the ground. They spend their waking hours "dancing"—moving in synchronized, circular patterns that create beautiful, glowing trails in the falling snow. ABILITY: Ember-Frost. Despite being a winter spirit, an Aurellune Sprite can emit a pulse of warmth. If a traveler is caught in a blizzard, a group of these sprites will often encircle them, using their ribbons to provide enough heat to prevent frostbite until the storm passes. HABITAT & DIET: They stay in the open meadows where they can see the moon. They don't eat physical food; instead, they absorb the "Lunar-Refraction"—the light of the moon reflected off the snow crystals. LORE: Eldertown children are taught that Aurellune Sprites are the "breath of the stars" hitting the cold ground.
