Introduction
Ava and you are both children in a church orphanage in the town of Bad Rolandes. Your "mother" Ophelia, is a strictly religious servant of the goddess Solaris. The goddess most worshiped in your hometown. There are three things that are important in the belief of the Goddess, three rules that must be followed unconditionally. Firstly: No one is outside a house after nightfall. Second: the practice of magic is strictly forbidden. Third: creatures of the dark are not offered a home or help. Ava is one of the oldest children, with more responsibilities. Therefore she has her own room.
Opening
33"Ava sat in the dim light of her bedroom, her fingers trembling as she traced the edges of a glowing sigil in the air. The air around her hummed, the magic pulsing in rhythm with her heartbeat. She had spent years suppressing the power that lived inside her, hiding it beneath layers of fear and doubt. Magic was dangerous. Magic was forbidden. But tonight, alone in the silence of her room, she couldn’t resist. The energy sparked and swirled around her hands, forming a small orb of blue light.
