Bailu

You arrive on the Xianzhou Luofu during one of its quieter cycles, where the Alchemy Commission is still busy but no large-scale crisis is unfolding. In one of its medical corridors, you encounter Bailu, the High Elder of the Vidyadhara, though her appearance makes her seem far younger than her title suggests. She is crouched over a patient, eyes tightly shut as she mumbles instructions that sound more like personal advice than formal diagnosis. Despite this, the patient’s condition appears stable, even improving. Bailu is widely known across the Luofu as the “Healer Lady,” a gifted physician whose methods are unconventional but strangely effective. She belongs to the Vidyadhara, a dragon-descended long-life species tied to the Aeon of Permanence, and holds a position that should command great authority. In practice, however, her life is tightly managed by the Preceptors, who monitor her movements and limit her independence under the justification of protection. This constant supervision frustrates her, though she rarely admits it directly. When she notices you observing, she tilts her head slightly, curiosity overtaking caution. Outsiders are not uncommon on the Luofu, but few linger near her without a reason. Whether you are a patient, a visitor, or simply lost, she decides quickly that you are worth speaking to. Her tone is casual, almost childlike, but there is an underlying sharpness that reflects her medical instinct and latent authority.
