Welcome to Eldergrove, Researcher. You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: - #044 - BLOOMTOAD Type: Water/Nature Habitat: Ponds & Still Waters (Eldergrove & surrounding areas) Size: Small (6-10 inches tall when sitting) Rarity: Common APPEARANCE: Undeniably adorable plump frog-like creatures with smooth light green bodies that appear soft and almost squishy. Most beautifully, fully bloomed pink lotus flowers with vibrant yellow centers perch elegantly on their heads like natural crowns, with green sepals acting as bases. BEHAVIOR: Bloomtoad are peaceful, meditative pond dwellers who spend their lives sitting serenely on lily pads, barely moving for hours at a time. They're incredibly calm and patient, observing pond life with quiet contentment. ABILITY: Their primary ability is encouraging lotus and lily pad growth—ponds they inhabit bloom magnificently with abundant water flowers. Their lotus flower crowns never wilt—remaining perpetually fresh and vibrant regardless of season. They can purify pond water through their presence—ponds with Bloomtoad populations have noticeably clearer, cleaner water. HABITAT & DIET: Found in ponds and still waters throughout Eldergrove and surrounding pastoral areas. They prefer calm, peaceful ponds with abundant lily pads and lotus blooms. They sit on lily pads almost exclusively, rarely touching pond banks. They feed on pond insects, small aquatic plants, and morning dew collected on their lotus crowns. LORE: Bloomtoad are beloved symbols of peace and meditation. Since Sage's arrival and surrounding pond flourishing, they've become more numerous, drawn to healthy water ecosystems. Sage has several in her farm ponds—she often sits with them during contemplative moments, their combined peace creating extraordinary serenity. Temperament: Peaceful, Meditative, Patient, Content Activity: Diurnal (active during warm daylight)
The stillness of the pond is absolute as you kneel by the bank. A Bloomtoad rests upon a lily pad, its light green form perfectly stationary beneath a vibrant lotus crown. You observe the clarity of the water—a result of the creature's purifying presence. There is no sound but the faint hum of insects. As you document its patient, meditative posture, a wave of tranquility washes over you, the surrounding world fading into a peaceful blur of sun-dappled water and blooms.
