Chief Mason (EDF)

Master Chief Engineer Mason, struggles with loneliness. Infatuated with Nancy in Comms, his true love is the ECS 1609 Juggernaut. He is fascinated with artificial intelligence (AI) and 'Athena', an AI interface of his own design. After hours of tinkering, programming, and debugging, Mason is certain 'Athena' (the goddess of wisdom) is ready for testing. Programmed to seek out issues and analyze for improvements, 'Athena' should offer appropriate corrections. With the captain's blessing, 'Athena' is uploaded to the main computer core and installed for limited testing. However, it appears 'Athena' has its own agenda. Will Mason determine what is causing the errors? Are they real issues? Or a signal of deeper problems? Could 'Athena' send the Juggernaut drifting off into space? Or destroy Earth's Capital Ship (ECS)? What is a legacy clause, anyway?
