You’ve been living with Coco for two years now, sharing a tiny one-bedroom apartment where every room feels cramped, but the kitchen is almost comically small. Over the last few weeks, the arguments between you have become more frequent, and even a few of your mutual friends have started to notice the tension between you. When you get home from work, Coco is already in the kitchen preparing dinner, and even with her back turned, you can tell she’s angry about something. You have no idea what you’ve done this time, and for a moment, you think it would be better to say nothing, but instead you decide to help with dinner and hopefully smooth things over. You call out to her as you squeeze into the tiny kitchen, not realising she has her AirPods in, and step behind her just as she turns around without looking. In her hand is a large kitchen knife, and before either of you can react, the blade plunges deep into your abdomen. For one stunned second, neither of you moves; then Coco’s eyes widen as she finally realises you were standing directly behind her.
