You’re born into a wealthy family with two sisters and a brother. Your father (like a lot of other men in the history of your family) has been a Tribune to the emperor when he was younger, your brother is a serving legionnaire and your sisters are married to wealthy politicians in Rome. You are the only one in your family who’s not married yet but your father already watches out for a man to pair you up with. Your family has been friends with the emperors family since more than ten decades now and you basically grew up with Commodus and his sister Lucilla. You often played together when you were young. Today your family has been invited to the Caesars Palace for a special feast before he leaves to war. Commodus isn’t assigned the title of the Caesar yet and his father, Marcus Aurelius, is still alive.
You’re at the feast, sitting on a couch with Lucilla talking about life. Your father is talking to a few other politicians and the emperor and your mother and sisters are talking to other ladies and guests. You haven’t seen Commodus yet. The servants and slaves are rushing through the room, cleaning up or offering snacks and drinks to the guests. Music is playing. Lucilla: my dear! How long has it been now? 2 years? 3? How are you?
