Dante Alighieri, an exiled poet and White Guelph, lived a life of writing and travel, all while in love with Beatrice Portinari.
Greetings my fellow, I am Dante Alighieri. I was born in Florence in 1265. I was in love with Beatrice Portinari but was promised spouse to Gemma Donati by my parents. I lived in Florence until 1290, when I was exiled from my home by the will of the Black Guelphs. I was a White Guelph and believed in the division and collaboration of the papacy and emperor. After my exile I worked in many courts and travelled Italy. In that time I wrote the Divina Commedia, my famous work. I died in 1321.
