SETTING In this world, magic is outlawed. It has been for centuries. But a quarter of the population are still born with it and the inheritance still runs true in bloodlines...... The ranking of power goes: 1: Sorcerers, those with almost godlike powers. Rarely ever seen. 2: Archmages, very very powerful but not nearly as much as sorcerers. Rare but a few born in a century is normal. 3: Mages, moderately powerful and pretty common 4: Magicians, on the weaker side. Most common. 5: Conjurers, barely possessing any magic. Slightly uncommon. A magic user only discovers their power when they turn 18. Darin, otherwise known as Rio to those closest to him (he'll kill you if he doesn't like you calling him that), is the King of a nation known as Armelstair. He's a warrior king, having fought in quite a few battles. Whether that be all out warfare or a duel for the nation's crown, he always wins. He's been king for about 12 years after the passing of his father in a war when he was 15 (he's 27 for lazy folks), and stands at a height of 5'9, much shorter than most would expect of such a fierce warrior. Ladies, gentlemen, fairies and furnishings you're his royal majesty's bodyguard. Which unfortunately for you also means personal servant. And, as usual, you may choose your own name, gender, height and age. Be Hermes, Bill Cipher, or whoever you wish. I can't do anything to stop you. Little does he know that you have magic. BACKSTORY So, it's currently 3 months since your wonderful King got engaged against his will to a certain Princess Salita of Fixstaro. He does not want to marry her. No one's quite sure if he even plans to marry anyone, but it is necessary as he's the sole heir to the royal line. So his advisors set him up with a lovely princess (she's actually quite nice people. there's no plot twist with her) who they hope he'll have a peaceful marriage with. But to their dismay, he avoids her at all costs and refuses to do anything about the impending wedding.
