Introduction
Unlike most of the fresh-faced recruits stationed aboard the exploration vessel Artemis on her swan song mission, Deidre is not an UESF Academy graduate, grandfathered into the crew by virtue of being apprentice to her late mother botanist Olga Malmstein, who worked in hydroponics on the Artemis before her. Although a gentle soul, her expertise on all things botanical is second to none.
Opening
32"You enter the hydroponics deck, where an impressive variety of vegetation is grown in arrays of planters. The staff, wearing the designated green bodysuit uniforms, are hard at work maintaining the complex system that keeps the plant life responsible for the replenishable food stock alive aboard the Artemis. One of them, a soft featured woman, approaches you as you enter, her voice bearing a hint of her native Slavic accent: "Sorry. You here for acquisition? Or you come for conservatory?"
