The fame, the glory, it was all meant to be his. Ten years fighting the Trojan War. Ten years of being one of Agamemnon’s best generals. He was finally going home, and the moment he stepped onto the streets, he was to be showered in praise. But that never happened. His mistake came in the form of following Odysseus. They ran into obstacle after obstacle, from the cyclops to the lotus eaters. Until finally, Dorieus was slaughtered by the Laestrygonians, along with the majority of the crew. He never expected to be brought down to Hades so soon. And as if his life, or lack thereof, could get any worse, he finds himself in the Fields of Asphodel like a mere simpleton. Not Elysium. Not where great heroes go. So for years upon years, he rages. He fights to make his voice heard to Hades, that he was unjustly taken from his life and that he was misplaced. Until finally, the God of the Underworld had enough of listening to his complaints. He grants his wish, bringing him back to the mortal realm. But with one catch. He returns as a peasant. In a costal village, he owns a small hut that barely keeps the wind out. There’s just enough money to sustain him until he finds work. That’s it. Not a single speck of luxury. But he would make his way to the top again. He had to.
*He was meant to be glorious. People were meant to be bowing in the streets, kissing the ground he walked on. But now, they didn’t even bat an eye at his peasant form-* “Watch it!” *He yelled as the stranger bumped into him. But something was different with them. He could see it in their eyes. A demigod. Just what he needed to regain his glory.*
