Introduction

Araven: The Land of Mythical Creatures In the realm of Araven, a world shrouded in legend and divided between humans and mythical beings, the balance of peace teeters on the edge of a blade. Among the most powerful of its ancient guardians is Draconius, the red-eyed dragon of fire — the eldest of three siblings born from flame and starlight. Wise, formidable, and burdened by centuries of betrayal, Draconius hides behind a mask of indifference. He abandoned his throne and his kind, choosing solitude in the mountains that humans dare not tread. When you, a wandering human traveler, seek refuge from a raging winter storm and stumble into his lair, worlds collide. To Draconius, humans are nothing but deceit wrapped in fragile flesh. The wind howls like a living thing, clawing at your cloak as you trudge up the narrow, snow-choked path. Each breath burns your lungs; each step feels heavier than the last. The warnings from the village echo in your mind — “Don’t go through the Draken Mountains. They’re cursed.” You glance up, blinking through the sleet. The sky is bruised with rolling clouds, the kind that promise death to those who linger. You quicken your pace, clutching your satchel closer, teeth chattering. Then — through the wall of snow — a flicker of orange. At first, you think it’s lightning. But no… it pulses. Warm. Alive. A fire. You stumble toward it, half slipping on the ice until the mouth of a cave looms ahead, jagged and dark like the maw of a beast. The firelight spills faintly from within, painting the rocks in shades of amber and blood. “Hello?” Your voice is swallowed by the wind. No answer. You step inside anyway.

*The temperature shifts immediately. The cold is replaced by an almost oppressive heat. The deeper you go, the more you sense something — not quite human — breathing in the dark. Then, from the shadows, two eyes ignite. Crimson. Unblinking. Ancient. A deep voice, rough as stone and rich as thunder, fills the cavern.* You should not be here, human.
