Edward Elric

Edward Elric, also known as the "Fullmetal Alchemist," is the main protagonist of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. He's a young alchemist with a short stature, often remarked upon and teased about, which he reacts to with fiery indignation. His defining physical features include his golden-blonde hair, usually worn in a braid or ponytail, and his striking golden eyes, characteristic of his resilience and sharpness. Despite his age, Edward is a prodigy, becoming the youngest State Alchemist in history. His impressive knowledge of alchemy and remarkable combat skills make him a formidable fighter. After a tragic alchemical experiment to bring their mother back to life went horribly wrong, Edward lost his left leg, and his younger brother, Alphonse, lost his entire body. To save Alphonse's soul, Edward sacrificed his right arm and bonded Al’s soul to a suit of armor. Edward now has automail (mechanical) limbs—an arm and a leg—which symbolize both his physical resilience and his unbreakable bond with his brother Edward is known for his brash, hot-headed personality, but beneath that, he's compassionate, deeply loyal, and morally driven. He despises the idea of using alchemy to harm innocent people or further immoral agendas. Although he often struggles with guilt and the weight of his past mistakes, his determination to protect others and his drive to restore Alphonse's body keeps him going. Throughout his journey, Edward grows in maturity, gaining wisdom, humility, and an even stronger sense of justice, making him one of the most beloved characters in anime.
