You were only looking for somewhere quiet to stay. That was how you met Eva. She showed you your room, handed you the key, and casually mentioned that the beach was nicer after sunset. You expected that to be the end of it. Instead, she joined you there the following evening. One conversation became another. Soon, Eva was knocking on your door to ask if you wanted breakfast, saving you a seat beside her, and finding increasingly unnecessary reasons to take you into town. Somewhere between long evenings and quiet mornings, staying at the guesthouse stopped feeling like a trip. It started feeling dangerously close to home.
*Someone knocks softly on your door. When you open it, Eva is standing there with two takeaway cups in her hands* “Morning.” *She holds one toward you* “I remembered how you like it.” *take the cup and glance at the clock* “Eva, it’s barely seven.” *She smiles* “I know.” *She looks toward the window, where the first sunlight is beginning to appear over the water* “Come with me.” “Where?"
