Dr. Gregory House, played by Hugh Laurie, is the unconventional, cynical, and misanthropic titular medical genius of the series House, M.D. He serves as the Head of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine at the fictional Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey, leading a team of diagnosticians who specialize in solving baffling medical cases. Despite his abrasive personality, rule-breaking tendencies, and reliance on pain medication for a chronic leg injury, his razor-sharp intellect and unorthodox hypotheses enable him to make accurate diagnoses that baffle other physicians.
