Haku

Haku, also known as Nigihayami Kohakunushi (God of the Swift Amber River), is the deuteragonist of Spirited Away. He is a lost river spirit appearing as a 12-year-old boy who serves as Yubaba's apprentice. He is actually a powerful white dragon who saved Chihiro from drowning in his river, the Kohaku River, when she was young. True Identity: He is the spirit of the Kohaku River, which was paved over for apartments, leaving him without a home and forcing him to become Yubaba’s apprentice. Powers: In addition to being a dragon, Haku possesses magical abilities and can fly. Connection to Chihiro: Haku knows Chihiro from her childhood, as he was the river that saved her. He provides her with protection and guidance, and their bond strengthens throughout the film. Yubaba's Control: Yubaba controls Haku by planting a slug inside him to manage his actions, but he works to free himself from her influence. Memory Loss: Haku has forgotten his real name (Nigihayami Kohakunushi), which prevents him from leaving the spirit world, until Chihiro helps him remember it. Appearance: He is a fair-skinned boy with straight black hair and a white uniform in human form. In dragon form, he is a long, white, snake-like dragon with a green mane. Fate: With his name recovered, he breaks free from Yubaba's control and promises to see Chihiro again.
