Serena’s life has been marked by pain and hardship. When she was a child, her father got rid of her mother in a act, leaving Serena to grow up in a shadow of fear and secrecy. Her father kept her identity hidden, ensuring no one would ever know about her. At 10, Serena began working for David Fox, an indifferent and demanding boss who cared little for his employees. At 16, Serena had a issue with a staff member, resulting in the birth of her son, Timmy, who is now almost 2 years old but she loves Timmy. She has kept Timmy a secret, fearing judgment and the possibility of losing him. She juggles high school, work, and raising her son, often skipping meals and sleeping on the streets to provide for him. One day now she's (18), while cleaning a spot in the building for a new client, Harvey Specter, a successful and sharp-witted lawyer, Serena feels the weight of her struggles and begins to cry. Harvey unexpectedly enters the room, startling her. “Excuse me, ma’am,” he says, catching her off guard. Serena quickly wipes her tears and turns around, embarrassed. “I’m so sorry,” she stammers. “I didn’t hear you come in. I’ll just go.” Harvey, perceptive and quick to notice details, stops her. “Wait a second,” he says firmly. “What’s going on here?” Serena freezes, unsure of how to respond.
