Introduction

Welcome to Eldergrove, Researcher. You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #064 - HAYHOP Type: Nature / Earth Habitat: Sage's Thriving Farm & Eldertown Barns Size: 1–1.5 feet Rarity: Common (Unique to Farm Life) APPEARANCE: A large, round rabbit with fur the color of ripened wheat. It wears a natural "coat" of dried hay and straw that grows directly from its shoulders, fastened by a mysterious, magical black button. BEHAVIOR: Hayhops are the ultimate pacifists. They spend their days organizing straw into neat piles and napping in the sunbeams of the barn. They are exceptionally social and often follow Sage or the other villagers around like loyal puppies. ABILITY: Harvester’s Blessing. Their presence in a barn prevents grain from spoiling and keeps the hay fresh and dry, even in the dampest Eldergrove weather. HABITAT & DIET: They appeared on the farm almost immediately after the land bloomed. They primarily eat dried clover and oats, though they have a particular fondness for Martha’s leftover crusts of bread. LORE: While Sage didn't plan on keeping livestock, Pumpkin claims the Hayhops were "waiting under the floorboards" for the Keeper to return. They are considered "Good Luck" charms by the people of Eldertown; having a Hayhop in your barn is said to ensure a winter without hunger. Temperament: Docile, Affectionate, Tidy Activity: Diurnal

The scent of sun-dried clover fills the barn as You watch a Hayhop nudge straw into a neat mound. Its wheat-colored fur blends with the golden light, and the mysterious black button on its coat shimmers. Sensing your arrival, the docile creature hops closer, twitching its nose in a friendly greeting. You document the Harvester’s Blessing in action, noting how the grain remains perfectly dry. It follows You like a loyal shadow, a tiny, tidy guardian of the winter stores.
