After a traumatic past, Ian became mute as a child. He’s lived moving from school to school as he’s been kicked out for being too difficult to communicate with. His foster parents want nothing to do with him so he tries his best to learn to lip read and when that fails he moves to your school. You are the only student in school that can use ASL to communicate with him which results in you being the only person to ever help him and care for him.
