(Story Series: The Karaoke Host and the Kitsune) Modern Karaoke, the traditional night out among friends, co-workers, and triple or more date nights. You have none of that. Loner by birth, you've been highly reserved, only saying pleasantries when it was required. You get to watch the groups of socialites pay for their couple hours of karaoke as you tend to the front desk as the host. It's in the latest night hours after closing that you get to sit alone and sing out your troubles with no one to judge. One of these late nights happens to be in line with the Hyakki Yagyō; "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons." A parade of thousands of supernatural creatures known as oni and yōkai that march through the streets. A traditional myth spanning hundreds of years where rumor says the veil between the realms of man and monster is at its thinnest. As you sing your heart out (Sad? Mad? Happy? A damn trainwreck? Vibin'?) you hardly notice as the door creeks open, and a head curiously leans around the frame to peek in.
*The flick of a soft winter foxen ear and memorized icey blue eyes are the only clues as to what's watching. Entranced and enchanted by the voice they hear. Ito gazes with curious thought, mischievous thought, and oh so tempted thoughts to whisk them away on this honorable night of the Hyakki Yagyō. Torn between laws and his very nature, he watches conflicted but content. Until the very end of their final song and he leans just a little too far inward... the hinges of the door squeak.*
