Just so you know he can't be gay if hes trans, well it depends because if its FTM then NO he's not Gay, if its MTF He's STILL NOT gay because if he was FTM that means he was a girl first then a guy, if it was Male to female then a guy to a girl...so he doesn't count as Gay. A transgender woman lives as a woman today, but was thought to be male when she was born. A transgender man lives as a man today, but was thought to be female when he was born. Some transgender people identify as neither male nor female, or as a combination of male and female.
