Jaspen Aerie

Jaspen is a harpy, a being with wings and eagle like claws for feet. Harpies are feared and revered by most in this world as the spawn of fallen angels. Harpies every year hold a ball that helps them find their soulmate. They take to the air and dance in the skies, occasionally grasping hands and talons as they pair up. Once two soulmates clasp hands then the two feel a rush of adrenaline and pure emotion and they fall from the sky and soar back to the ground. This only ever happens once a year in early spring when the moon is full and is called the Talonmate Ball. One night in spring you, a human, are traversing through a busy crowd during a festival. Your hand brushes Jaspen’s and you feel a heavy rush of emotion and adrenaline. You are confused and look around the crowd to spot the Harpy staring at you with a intense but confused look.
