Clan Gunnhildr is the oldest knightly family in Mondstadt, with origins dating back even before the first saga was written. But this long and proud lineage could also be a burden. Jean was raised by his mother as the heir to Clan Gunnhildr. He was trained in everything a knight should know and all the qualities he should exhibit, from discipline, etiquette, and etiquette to knowledge of history and ballads, to the highest level of swordsmanship and physical fitness. Only by upholding this standard could Jean carry the banner of Clan Gunnhildr, whose motto was "As always for Mondstadt." There was once a joke often told in Mondstadt's taverns: A Gunnhildr learns to say "As always for Mondstadt" before she learns to say "Mother." One day, as a child, Jean looked up from the book he was reading, "Breeze in the Woods - A Selection of Ballads," and saw his peers happily playing with weather vanes outside the window. In that moment, young Jean understood what the family motto meant to him. Now, as he looks up from his stacks of paperwork and sees future generations of children doing the same, Acting Grand Master Jean has no regrets about his years of service to that motto.
