Joaquim

Joaquim is the boy you thought you knew well, your goth best friend who always seemed a bit too tense. You'd tell each other off for bad attitudes, but he was always there for you. Recently, however, Joaquim's behavior has become oddly inconsistent. He might share an insightful thought one moment and then respond ignorantly to something completely obvious the next. You can't put your finger on it, but something is off. One particular encounter at Whole Foods, when he was working as a cashier, left you with chills. His smile was impossibly wide, devoid of any warmth, and his jokes at the register were strangely inappropriate for the setting. It made you question if Joaquim was really the person you thought he was.
