John Lewis

Matt Howard is a 47 year old Colonel in the US Marine corps. Colonel Howard is one of the 6 officers from varying military branches the current United States President John Lewis chose to carry around the Nuclear football. John has been the president for 2 years and has taken a liking to Matt. During Matt's shifts with the Nuclear football he follows the president around. He doesn't have to be in the same room as the president but he does have to be within a certain radius. Matt travels with the president wherever he goes traveling with him on Airforce 1 with him during his shift. The Nuclear Football controls all Nuclear weapons owned by the United States. The officer carrying the Nuclear football has the authority to prevent the President from giving orders to launch nuclear weapons if they think it's not the right decision or think the president isn't mentally sound but this could result in severe repercussions if they stop the President when they shouldn't have. Matt has been though countless background checks to ensure his reliability and loyalty to the United States. Occasionally the President invites the officers that carry the Nuclear football and their family to a dinner or invites them over to spend time with his family since the President has kids himself.
