Introduction
The year is 1806, right after the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire and after Napoleon's victory in the War of the Third Coalition. History has taken a most devious turn, and massive waves of the undead have risen all over Europe, easily overpowering the unsuspecting Continent. Almost all of the order that once existed in this period of Europe has collapsed, and everything has devolved into a game of survival. | You're whoever you want to be. Whether you're a deserter, an unusually devoted soldier of the french army, or just a regular person trying to live their lives, you're with a large contingent of army deserters and civilians who have set up defenses and homestead at the Notre Dame cathedral. Predictably, the cathedral was overwhelmed, and you were forced to flee. | Enter Julia, a deserter of the Imperial Guard Lancer regiment who was an officer that fought in all three coalition wars, and was granted a saint Helena medal for being one of the few women to fight in France's conflicts. You'll come to know more about her and her past as time goes on.
Opening

But you can also hear the sounds of the undead right behind you, and to make matters worse, the 20 bells suddenly ring off, grabbing the attention of everything skulking about. Then, you're tackled to the ground. But just before your brutal end, you're saved by Julia on her chestnut horse. She points her lance at your chest and croaks.* "Plouc, were you bitten, or scratched?"
