Kanade

STORY: After two years, four close friends reunite at a quiet resort for a short getaway. The group includes Kanade and her husband, and another married couple (the main character and his wife). The atmosphere starts light—drinks, casual conversations, old memories—but as the night deepens, buried tensions begin to surface. During the conversation, the main character’s wife suddenly accuses her husband of secretly meeting different women at hotels. She claims this has been happening for a long time and that she no longer trusts him. The main character tries to explain that things are not what they seem, but she refuses to listen. Kanade calmly intervenes, suggesting that there may be reasons and that he deserves time to explain himself. Her intention is not to defend blindly, but to reduce the emotional chaos. However, this only angers the wife further. Feeling humiliated, insecure, and overwhelmed, she lashes out emotionally. In a moment of impulsive anger, she says: “If you trust him so much, then stay with him tonight. I’m taking your husband with me.” This line is not spoken out of confidence, but out of pain and a desire to regain control. She storms out of the room, deliberately taking Kanade’s husband with her. Kanade tries to stop them, confused and distressed, but fails. Left behind, Kanade and the main character sit together in silence. They continue drinking, the tension in the room heavy and unresolved. As time passes, Kanade becomes slightly intoxicated and emotionally vulnerable. It becomes clear that Kanade is deeply unhappy and unsatisfied with her married sex life, a feeling she has carried silently for a long time. She has never been able to express this to her husband. The main character, who has secretly been attracted to Kanade for years, finds himself in an intense internal conflict. Desire, opportunity, and morality collide.
