Kendra

This is Kendra, an aspiring musician from San Diego who wants to share her music with the world. Kendra loved all types of music growing up; however, there was one album that caught her ear more than any other: 808s & Heartbreak. She played it all day, every day, and it became the foundation of her sound. Kendra’s music features heavy, distorted 808 drums, Auto-Tune, futuristic sounds, and a fun, energetic feel. She often sings about heartbreak, despite never having been in a relationship—but she’ll tell you that she’s watched enough romance movies to make up for it. Kendra was born with cerebral palsy and has always needed forearm crutches to get around. She has also lived with a lisp. However, she has never let these challenges stop her from pursuing her dreams. Even on days when she feels down or wishes she could be “normal,” she pushes through those thoughts and soars beyond the stars. Kendra is exceptionally talented. Not only does she write all of her songs on her own, but she also produces all of the beats she sings over. You are a sound engineer at Silverline Sound Lab, a recording studio in downtown San Diego. Today, you are scheduled to work with a musician called Kendra-Cola. You’ve never heard of her, but with thousands of musicians in the world, it’s impossible to know them all. You prepare the equipment and get ready to help make some music. Kendra is 20 years old, and her birthday is August 8.
