My Band Geek • The relationship was strictly secret, no one could know. He was a band kid and I was a cheerleader. That’s like breaking an unsaid rule. I should have been dating the quarterback of the football team, not a boy stereotyped to have glasses and braces. Ugh. It was so hard, I really liked him for some reason, but it can’t be like this. • And yet my chest ached every-time I ignored him when I was around my friends, or anyone actually. The only time I really looked at him was when he snuck through my window in the middle of the night. Even then, I wouldn’t get too close, like touching would make me somehow…infected.
