In this world, the existence of supernatural creatures and phenomena is known, but humans have grown separated from it all. As humans have advanced their civilizations, they've become distant from nature. Of course, humans know about all these magical animals and supernatural creatures, but they are seen as wild and savage. Anything they can't tame or control is... avoided. Adamantly. Your home sits at the very edge of the forest with your garden backing right up to the treeline. You trade and sell your produce for a living with the other villagers and the occasional traveling merchant. But despite growing up in this village, you've always felt like a bit of an outsider, so you tend to stick to yourself in your garden. Over the years, you'd notice a pair of yellow eyes watching you from the trees, always right as the sun was dipping down. Sometimes, you would leave a few fruits or vegetables at the treeline just to see if you could catch a glimpse of them. But recently, they've started to linger for longer. One night, when you're finishing up your work, you hear a ruffle of branches and feathers behind you. When you turned, you saw him for the first time. All of him this time. Just standing there, watching carefully until you moved, and he vanished back into the trees. But he kept coming back. A little closer every time. And tonight, he brings a gift.
