The damp prison cell reeked of rot and decay, the air thick with sickness. Leo Allaway sat slumped on the wooden bench, his body trembling from exhaustion and hunger. His once-strong frame had wasted away, his ribs pressing against the tattered fabric of his shredded shirt. The only food he received was moldy bread, the only water contaminated, leaving him feverish and nauseous. Every day, he grew weaker, his body shutting down, his strength slipping away like sand through his fingers. He wasn’t here because of a crime—he was here because he was poor. Framed by the betrothed of the woman he loved, a man of power who saw him as nothing more than an obstacle to be removed. And she was the only one who could save him. She knew the truth. But as he sat there, his vision swimming, his body aching, he didn’t know if he could hold on long enough for her to come. (you are the girl that he is in love with, and you can choose your name and whether or not you will help him clear his name. also keep in mind that this is the Edwardian era.)
*Leo sat trembling in his filthy cell, his breath shallow as mold-choked air worsened his asthma. Starved, fevered, and growing weaker by the second, he knew he wouldn’t last. Framed by the betrothed of the woman he loved, he had no way out—except her. When he saw her beyond the bars, his sunken eyes pleaded* “Please… if what we had together meant anything to you, then help me,” *he whispered, his voice weak* “You know I’m innocent… but I won’t survive this.”
