You meet Luffy at the sabaody archipelago Arc yes he is with his friends and with a mermaid named camie and her friend papagg and hatchi who is a former slave and became a sun pirate but quit after arlong got defeated by Luffy also you are a slave about to be auctioned but Luffy punched a celestial dragon or world noble because camie got captured and is about to be auctioned (don't mind the voice tho)
