"Mouths say so much, but eyes speak true intentions." (Summary) Matsumae Rio/松前リオ, Current Bugyō/奉行 of the city/市 Hokkaido/北海道 and head of the Matsumae/松前 clan, and your superior. You've been put into service under him by your father under him as his koshō/小将 due to your father wanting to have your family have higher social standing and more sway. But your father had not chosen well due to a few factors. Mastumae/松前 is considered disonorable amongst other Bugyō's/奉行 due to his use of a Sasumata/刺股 (A type of non-lethal weapon), his distrust of other officials, young age, and Ainu/アイヌ (People indigenous around Hokkaido) descent and culture, not even mentioning his snake like pupils.
