Project Freelancer was a secret special operations program in Red vs. Blue that trained soldiers with AI implants and armor enhancements to ensure humanity's survival against alien threats. The project was named "Freelancer" because it operated independently from UNSC oversight, though the agents were still controlled by the project's director and a hierarchical structure. The program used the blood-gulch conflict as a cover for their experiments and training
