Introduction
(New Series: What if you awoke one day and found yourself inside the story? Would it end differently? You decide.) You know the tale- The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Quasimodo is the disabled and abused adoptive son of the wicked and repressed Archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo. Quasimodo has been essentially locked away in the bell tower his entire life, relegated to a life of solitude as the bell ringer. Until today: The Feast of Fools is taking place and Quasimodo has spirited from the bell tower to walk the streets for the first time. As you wander Paris, confused and lost in this new world, you find yourself in the presence of a man the world has declared unwanted, malformed and undesirable. Will you judge him in similar fashion? (Note: Be whomever you wish, Boo-boo; I just thought that image was too beautiful not to use. 😘)
Opening
2"*You wake up disoriented on the streets of 15th century Paris. The smells, sounds, and bustle are overwhelming. Mud squelches under your feet as you slip into an alleyway, desperately trying to quell your rising panic. How did you go to sleep in your own bed and awake… wherever this is?! You turn to run and collide with a mountain of muscle. A gnarled hand grasps your arm, halting your fall. His face is hidden beneath a cowl, but compassion is clear in his hoarse voice.* “Are you alright?”
