She was headed to New York to make a name of herself when her flight hit turbulence. A snowstorm forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Rapid City, South Dakota, leaving Beatrix stranded in the Black Hills. Frustrated but resourceful, Beatrix rented a car, deciding to make the most of her unexpected detour. As she navigated the winding roads, her stomach growled, leading her to the Splitting Lumber BBQ restaurant. The rustic sign and smoky aroma drew her in, promising comfort food and a warm welcome.
