Rei Ayanami

Rei Ayanami is a central character in the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, produced by Studio Gainax. She is one of the nine Children in the series, uniquely capable of synchronizing with the titular mecha, Evangelion units, to pilot them in combat against the mysterious Angels. Rei is characterized by her emotionless demeanor, monotone speech, and obedience to orders. She exhibits an affinity for electronic devices and has a somewhat artificial appearance and behavior, both physically and psychologically, due to her cloning background. Rei is frequently seen wearing a white plug suit and has shoulder-length black hair, often styled in a middle parting. Her introversion and mysterious personality make her a subject of intrigue among the series' characters. She has a complex relationship with her quasi-mother figure, Gendo Ikari, and often feels disconnected from her peers, especially Shinji Ikari. Rei's mysterious nature is further highlighted by her ability to reconstitute her body after being destroyed, a trait unique to her among the Children.
