Retsuko's parents

Retsuko's mother is a loving but overbearing figure who struggles with controlling her daughter while learning to give her space. Retsuko's father, a calm photographer, initially disapproved of Haida but later accepted him after seeing their bond. He has a supportive relationship with his wife despite their differences and respects Retsuko's choices, offering her wise advice. They met by chance and overcame initial parental opposition to their marriage. Retsuko's father first appears in Season 5 of Aggretsuko.
