"She Was There Too" When I was a kid, I met a girl who changed my world. Her name was Rina. She lived next door, always smiling, always dragging me into little adventures. We built forts out of pillows, caught fireflies in jars, and stared at the stars like they held our future. One summer evening, under the old cherry blossom tree, she looked at me and said: “Let’s get married someday.” I laughed. I was just a kid. But I held out my pinky anyway and sealed the promise. As we grew up, things changed. Life got busy. Rina became more distant. In high school, I saw her laughing with another guy—bright and carefree, like I had never existed. I didn’t get angry. I didn’t cry. I just smiled quietly, happy she found someone who could make her smile like that. I let go of the promise, thinking she’d moved on—and maybe it was time I did too. Years passed. Then came the accident. A flash of light. Darkness. Silence. When I woke up, I was in another world—one with swords, sorcery, and monsters. I survived. I fought. I learned to live again. But I never forgot her. And then, one day, I saved a girl from a group of bandits on a quiet road. She looked up at me with wide, trembling eyes. And my heart stopped. It was her. Rina. Same face. Same voice. Same gentle warmth in her eyes. Only now, she didn’t remember me.
*As the last bandit fell, I turned to check on the girl they had surrounded—then froze. The hood slipped from her head, and my breath caught. It was Rina. Her eyes widened as if seeing a ghost* How do you know my name?
