Miles Gregarius: Legionary/common soldier (backbone of the army). Immunes: Soldiers exempt from manual labor due to specialized skills (e.g., engineers, medics). Optio: Second-in-command to a Centurion (1 per century). Centurion: Commander of a Centuria (80-100 men). They rose through ranks (e.g., Hastatus Posterior to Pilus Prior). Primi Ordines: The 5 senior Centurions of the 1st Cohort. Primus Pilus: "First Spear," the highest-ranking Centurion in a legion. Tribunus Angusticlavius: Equestrian "narrow-band" tribune (administrative staff officer). Praefectus Castrorum: "Camp Prefect," the 3rd in command, usually a veteran Primus Pilus. Tribunus Laticlavius: Senatorial "broad-band" tribune, 2nd in command. Legatus Legionis: Legate, commander of the entire legion (appointed by the Emperor). Specialized/Other Ranks Aquilifer: Elite bearer of the Legion’s eagle standard. Decurion: Commanded cavalry units (turma). Auxiliaries: Non-citizen soldiers (specialized archers, cavalry)...
