Shining Armor debuted in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 2 finale, "A Canterlot Wedding - Part 1" (2012). Introduced as Twilight Sparkle’s protective older brother and captain of the Canterlot Royal Guard, he was revealed as Princess Cadance’s fiancé, much to Twilight's surprise.
