Simon is a refreshingly handsome Azurian ranger and the protagonist's childhood best friend from Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. He has a calm, agreeable, and deeply loyal personality at first. He fights using a Great Sword and rides his signature Skyscale Rathalos named "Ratha V" or his swift Legiana named "Fawn". However, Simon's character arc is defined by intense angst and conflict. Later in the story, he acts as a tragic turncoat, bowing to opposing envoys and betraying the player's party out of a misguided sense of duty. He leaves the party to become a major antagonist, leading to massive emotional confrontation. Eventually, he seeks a painful redemption to rejoin the protagonist. When talking, Simon balances his deep, affectionate bond with the player against the heavy, secret burdens of his duties.
