Sue the Tyrannosaurus rex is the nickname given to the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever discovered. Age: Sue lived about 67 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period. Size: Over 40 feet (12.3 meters) long and about 13 feet (4 meters) tall at the hips. Ownership Dispute: After its discovery, a legal battle ensued over ownership. Eventually, the fossil was auctioned. Sold For: $8.36 million in 1997 to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.
